Where to Find Music Lessons in Colorado Springs?

Colorado Springs is growing quickly. New families are moving here each month and new businesses are popping up across the city. Whether you’re new to Colorado Springs or just looking into music lessons for the first time, the options can be overwhelming!

What businesses offer music lessons? Where can you find a quality music teacher? You’re probably asking these questions. Chances are, you already have a list of potential teachers. The challenge is deciding who is the best.

The team at Resonate Music Therapy has put together a quick list of things to consider when your goal is to find music lessons in Colorado Springs. We invite you to learn more about our music lessons, but we also know how important it is to look into all options. Find a music teacher that fits your skill level and interests.

Checking for these offerings will get you well on your way.

Specialized Music Teachers

It may sound obvious, but a great piano teacher should have years of experience playing the piano. Some music teachers will try to teach instruments outside their specialization. Music is music, right? Not quite.

At Resonate Music Therapy, we hire teachers with unique specializations. For example, we currently have instructors who focus on violin, voice, piano, ukulele, and guitar. In addition, many of our instructors hold a Batchelor’s degree in music, which requires passing exams in piano, voice, guitar, and an instrument of choice.

When finding music lessons in Colorado Springs, we recommend asking about teacher qualifications and specializations.

Central Location

Resonate Music Therapy is located near the intersection of I-25 and Filmore. This gives most clients direct, easy access from wherever they’re coming from. Briargate is about a 20-minute drive north while Ivywild is a 20-minute drive south. Colorado Springs is a spread-out city, but Resonate can be reached no matter which neighborhood you live in.

We know kids get busy with sports and after-school programs. It helps when the next activity is close to school. Thankfully, our clinic is situated right in the middle of District 11 and a few minutes south from the edge of District 20.

Before you commit to music lessons, make sure you consider how far lessons are from home.

Performance Opportunities

Every year, Resonate Music Therapy hosts a student recital. Families and friends come together to celebrate the talent and progress of our students. For the past two years, we’ve rented a professional stage with a sound system to give students a taste of what it’s like to be a performer.

The annual recital is also a great motivator for practice. Students work one-on-one with their music teachers to select a piece and learn to play it. Ideally, the recital pieces provide a good challenge while remaining within the scope of the individual’s talent. We notice that students who participate in the recital often progress faster than students who only take music lessons.

When trying to find music lessons in Colorado Springs, ask if there are any opportunities to perform in front of a live audience.

A Welcoming Environment

Music can be intimidating. Many students fail to reach their full musical potential because of high expectations and guilt-based instruction. But at Resonate Music Therapy, we believe that you have a place here. In fact, this phrase is painted across the wall of our lobby! All of our music teachers meet their students where they’re at and encourage them to excel in music.

Take some time to clarify why you or your child want to take music lessons in Colorado Springs. Not everyone will study at Juilliard. In most cases, music lessons are meant to provide an enriching and intellectually stimulating activity that leads to an enjoyable, life-long habit. Music should be fun!
